Not only is it used to treat seizure disorders in dogs but can also be used in therapies with other agents and as a sole anticonvulsant. It comes in palatable liver flavor tablets which are chewable but the alternate butterscotch and vanilla flavor oral solution is much easier to administer. The tablets contain Vitamin B12 while the oral solution along with B12 also contains Vitamin B6. There are certain side-effects of this medicine which may include drowsiness and increased hunger, thirst, urination, vomiting, constipation and sometimes even anorexia.

Gabapentin- Dog Seizure Medications

Gabapentin belongs to a class of dog seizure medications that come to the rescue when no favorable response is observed with various other medicines. This medication comes in the form of capsules and is very effective in treating refractory seizures in dogs and also prevents and cures canine epilepsy. It comes in two variants of 100mg and 300 mg. Initially, a dose of 100 mg is given and if positive results are not seen from the lower dose, a higher dose of 300mg is given to the dog. It is also a veterinary prescribed drug and should be kept out of reach of children.
